We are a group of volunteers to help prevent and combat harassment in the Theory of Computing community. We provide support to people who have experienced harassment in a professional capacity. We also provide guidelines for conference organizers to help ensure that conferences are a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Participating conferences have agreed to have at least one of the trained ToC Advocates present for the duration of each conference to support any attendee who has experienced harassment. ToC Advocates can also be contacted for advice about incidents related to harassment outside of conferences.
We do not have the capacity to handle official complaints, perform investigations, or issue disciplinary action. However, the ToC Advocates can provide information about available processes for such actions.
While many incidents of harassment are sexual in nature, harassment should not be tolerated in any form, including harassment based on gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, age, or religion.
